Also, adding alpha layers actually causes PNG images to use more memory than before; especially when you take into account the number of transparent colors.Either way, it's not easy to do transparency to artworks when so many of them are always saved as JPEG images (which can't have transparency) on the gaming websites like GameSpot and IGN. {{User:M&SG/sig}} 15:05, 29 August 2010 (UTC) ===Mario/Peach Image For "Mario Party Advance"=== ===Mario/Peach Image For "Mario Party Advance"===

Laura Ingraham Browbeats Rep. Eric Cantor About Repealing 'Obamacare'

Click here to view this media If Eric Cantor thought he was going to get a friendly interview on the O'Reilly Factor last Thursday night with guest host Laura Ingraham, he was sadly mistaken. Ingraham hammered Cantor about whether the Republicans would bring forth a bill to repeal "Obamacare" if they regain control of the House of Representatives to which Cantor responded "Absolutely I will pledge to do that! Are you kidding? Of course!" As even Ingraham acknowledged though it's not likely the Republicans will have the numbers to over ride a veto by President Obama. Cantor laid out what their strategy will be instead of they regain control of the House. So we are faced with a situation where, hopefully, this November, a conservative majority will regain position in the House. And we're going to do everything we can to repeal the Bill, to delay the Bill, to defund the Bill, to do all of the above. I mean, these things go hand in hand, Laura. So they're going to take the weak tea we managed to get passed, most of which hasn't gone into effect yet and make it worse when what we need are improvements to the bill. Wonderful. Between that type of obstruction for obstruction's sake and Darrell Issa's endless witch hunts if the Republicans get back the House as well, they're going to make the days of the Clinton era look mild in comparison. One last note on this interview as well, after the browbeating Cantor took from Ingraham during this segment, I've got to wonder if he'll be coming back on the air with her any time soon. Laura Ingraham tends to regularly emote about all of the warmth and fuzziness of a rattle snake IMHO. Full transcript below the fold. INGRAHAM: In the "Impact" segment tonight, what's the political prognosis for Obama care after the November election? The question many conservatives, Tea Party activists, Republicans and even some Democrats are asking is this: if they take the House in November, will Republicans immediately push for an all-out repeal of Obama care? Joining us now from Richmond, Virginia, is Republican Congressman Eric Cantor. All right, Republican Congressman Eric Cantor. You've now got to correct the record because Politico is reporting that Eric Cantor, if he's the House majority leader come -- come November, that you're going to push for a more modest approach to Obama care, meaning defund it, not repeal it. Did Politico get it wrong? REP. ERIC CANTOR (R-VA), HOUSE GOP WHIP: Laura, I'll tell you one thing: as you and I have known each other for several years and as many of my constituents are, I'm a big fan of yours. So I got several calls from constituents over the last day or so saying, "What's Laura Ingraham talking about that Eric Cantor is not for a repeal of Obama care?" Of course I'm for a repeal of Obama care. As you know, Laura, I'm the Republican whip in the House, and the duty of the Republican whip was to marshal as many votes as we could against Obama care to make sure it didn't become law, and in the end, we didn't have one Republican vote that voted for it. Unfortunately, the Bill passed. So we are faced with a situation where, hopefully, this November, a conservative majority will regain position in the House. And we're going to do everything we can to repeal the Bill, to delay the Bill, to defund the Bill, to do all of the above. I mean, these things go hand in hand, Laura. INGRAHAM: Will you pledge, Congressman -- will you pledge, Congressman, if you are House majority leader, to see to it that a Bill is brought to the floor of the House of Representatives to immediately repeal Obama care? Will you pledge to do that tonight? CANTOR: Listen, without measuring any drapes about what position I will be or won't be, if I'm in a position to make that difference, absolutely I will pledge to do that. Are you kidding? Of course. I mean, listen, the discussion, I think, in the article that you were reading was about how we going to have a comprehensive strategy to ensure that a trillion-dollar takeover of our health care in this country does not occur. And it's got to go forward on all fronts, full throttle. We've got to make sure, initially, that we are defunding every bit of the regulations process. INGRAHAM: But 56 percent of -- see, I hear what you're saying, Congressman. But, look, 56 percent of the country wants it repealed. The latest poll out Rasmussen, you read it. I read it. Fifty-six percent immediately want it repealed. CANTOR: Laura -- Laura... INGRAHAM: I know you say you want it repealed but then you say, "Well, I mean, it's ambitious..." CANTOR: Laura... INGRAHAM: "... and President Obama might veto it." I say let him veto it. That will be great for you. CANTOR: Laura -- Laura, absolutely. But, listen, if -- absolutely. INGRAHAM: What's the "but"? CANTOR: We're going to put a Bill on the floor if I'm in a position to do it. You better believe it. INGRAHAM: Well, if you're House majority leader, you'll have the position to do it. If you're House majority leader, you will... CANTOR: Look... INGRAHAM: ... push forward the Bill immediately to repeal this? CANTOR: Yes. Yes, yes, yes. I don't see how you ever thought I wouldn't be for doing that. Now, come on. INGRAHAM: Well, because here's one reason. CANTOR: You and I are on the same side here. INGRAHAM: Here's one reason. Here's one reason I just wanted to trust but verify, like Reagan. "Doveryai no proveryai" in Russian. I wanted to trust and verify because this... CANTOR: Yes, but you know what? INGRAHAM: ... because this -- because of this. Because the things -- some of the things that you've said -- and they're not all negative, but some of the comments you've made about the Tea Party movement: it's good as the grass roots movement, which I agree. And then you also said, but not -- as a caucus, might not be that helpful. And then, you know, your -- I think your comment, maybe it was last year about Rush Limbaugh wanting the president to fail. And people get a little worried that... CANTOR: What? INGRAHAM: ... you know, even Eric Cantor can get caught up in the Washingtonitis, that's all. CANTOR: Laura, Laura, you know better than that from me. We've known each other for years. Now, come on. Listen, we've got to get a president in the White House who will sign a repeal Bill. We're going to put repeal bills on the floor, absolutely. But just to do so for that sake without actually accomplishing repeal is not enough for me. I want to make the case. I want to go and expose to the American people how egregious this government takeover of health care is. It will change health care as we know it. People won't be able to afford it. We won't have the quality of care that we expect and deserve in America. We've got a lot of work to do... INGRAHAM: We all agree on that. CANTOR: ... to make sure that we stop this thing from happening. INGRAHAM: A hundred percent. Why are you not for an all-out ban on earmarks, then? CANTOR: Listen, I don't earmark. OK? And so Republicans are not about earmarking. All right? I mean, we -- we are the ones that went -- I worked for five years to make sure. And John Boehner and I were able this year to make it so that our conference supported a moratorium on earmarks. And so what I will say is, if these earmarks come back, they will not be earmarks that will include monuments to me and teapot museums and frankly, we'll have... INGRAHAM: They'll be good earmarks? CANTOR: ... no tolerance for corruption. INGRAHAM: They'll be good earmarks? CANTOR: Listen, there will -- if these earmarks come back, there will have to be a demonstration to the American people that their taxpayer dollars are being spent prudently in a way with a federal purpose. Listen, again, I say I don't earmark. And Republicans are not about making the case for earmarks. INGRAHAM: They shouldn't do it. Are you going to sign on to Ryan's road map for the future going forward? Because I think that's a great slate of ideas, and I don't think you've signed it yet. Have you? CANTOR: Listen, I am working very closely with Paul Ryan to make sure that we put in place a way for us to balance the budget, a way for us to get to the point where these entitlement programs that we've got don't bankrupt this country. At the same time, that we can honor the commitments to America's seniors. And I think Paul will tell you that. INGRAHAM: All right. CANTOR: And so we've got to have a serious conversation, Laura. And it's time for conservatives to come together so that we can win in November and begin to take this country back. INGRAHAM: We're going to hold your feet to the fire, just like we hold the other feet to the fire. We can't go back to the old Republican ways. We have to have the new conservative Republican ways. CANTOR: Absolutely, Laura. But it's about all of us -- it's about all of us coming together. INGRAHAM: Not what happened in 2004 through 2008, absolutely. I appreciate it, Congressman. Thank you very much. CANTOR: I'm the first -- and I'm the first one, Laura, that will say that we have learned our lesson from those years. INGRAHAM: I hope so. I hope so.

Terrell Owens / AFC North preseason observations

Here are observations from Saturday night's preseason action in the AFC North:Bengals 20, Bills 35The GoodCincinnati's first-team offense doubled its touchdown output this preseason withtwotouchdown drives. With new faces like Terrell Owens, Jordan Shipley and Jermaine Gresham, the Bengals' offense has been a work in progress. They showed positive signsagainst Buffaloas quarterback Carson Palmer connected on touchdown passes to Gresham and receiver Chad Ochocinco. Palmer had his best preseason game to date, completing 9 of 11 passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns.Bengals starting tailback Cedric Benson also had his best game of the preseason. He rushed for 50 yards on eight carries. Bensonis running hardbut hasn't found many holes in limited carries this preseason. He finally broke off a nice run of 20 yards against Buffalo and averaged 6.3 yards per carry. The BadThe Bengals allowed too many points to a Buffalo offense that's not very good. Rookie tailback C.J. Spiller rushed for two first-half touchdowns to give the Bills a 21-7 lead at intermission. Bills quarterback Trent Edwards was near-perfect, completing 13 of 17 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown. Cincinnati's defense was often one step behind Buffalo's offense Saturday. Expect Bengals' defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer toget after his unit in practice this week. It's been an issue last year and all preseason, but the Bengals have been sloppy with penalties. Cincinnati recorded 12 penalties for 122 yards, which is high even for a preseason game. Cincinnati cannot expect to suddenly "turn it on" and play smarter when games count in the standings.Ravens 24, Giants 10 Read more Terrell Owens news

Ruth Bader Ginsburg Rebukes Senate Posturing For The Cameras During Supreme Court Confirmation Hearings

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg says television has profoundly changed confirmation hearings but declined to say whether she'd oppose televising arguments. Ginsburg told a Colorado judicial conference Friday that TV has made Supreme Court confirmation hearings much longer because senators posture for cameras. "The people on the Senate Judiciary Committee have all that free time" to stump for the audience, Ginsburg said. Ginsburg demurred, however, on the question of televising arguments before the high court. She talked about former justices who opposed cameras. Without naming anyone currently on the court, Ginsburg said, "When you're sitting on a collegial bench, if there is any of you who would be extremely discomforted ... you would defer to that colleague." Ginsburg talked to several hundred judges gathered for a judicial conference of the U.S. 10th Circuit Court. The justice delivered a speech written by her recently deceased husband, Martin Ginsburg. Martin Ginsburg, a prominent lawyer in his own right, was originally scheduled to address the gathering and prepared the remarks before his death from cancer in June. After reading the speech, she Ginsburg joined the chief jurist of Canada's Supreme Court, Beverly McLachlin, in a question-and-answer session. Nina Totenberg, who covers the Supreme Court for National Public Radio, asked the justices about the growing acceptance of women on the bench. Both said the legal profession, and society, has made great strides on gender equality since they started their careers. Ginsburg and McLachlin both said it wasn't easy to be a female lawyer when they started. Ginsburg told a humorous story about having a young son while teaching law school at Columbia University in New York. When her rambunctious boy acted up in class, she would get frequent calls from his school. "One day, I was particularly wary, and I said, 'This child has two parents. I suggest you alternate calls,'" Ginsburg said. After that, she recalled, the school called less often more hesitant to disturb a man at work than to disturb a woman at work. Justice Sonia Sotomayor was in the crowd but didn't join Ginsburg on stage. Sotomayor was to speak to the judges In a closed-door session Saturday.

I am William J Lashua's Grandson. Please read this.

Kind folks of reddit, My family and I appreciate the outpouring of love and generosity. There has been a large misunderstanding. The poster which I'm told was found at the Gardner Stop & Shop was more a local notice for people that know him. It was in no way to indicate that he is alone. He has 7 children, many grandchildren, and even great grandchildren. In his younger years he was a foster parent to dozens of foster children. He is well liked in the community, and will be fully supported on his 90th birthday. I ask that if you don't know him, to not attend the party, as it is for his friends and family. The venue for the party is a very small hall, and will be full to capacity with people he knows and loves.

By all means, send cards and well wishes, but please refrain from sending gifts/strippers/cakes/candies/etc. and instead please make a donation in his name to a local vetrans charity.

Thank you again for all the love and well wishes, we certainly never expected this. You are awesome reddit, now please help me spread the word to other outlets and make sure this is a smaller, enjoyable party for him.

Edit: There are so many replies, I can't begin to respond to them all. I love the fact that the internet has rallied behind this as a cause, and my family is overwhelmed with what we've seen and read. I've made this my soapbox to talk to "internets" and I feel it's a good place to do so. The outpouring of love, respect, and generosity has been amazing to say the least, but really... please... there are so many others less fortunate than my Grandfather that deserve this as well. This Labor Day weekend, go to your local VA hospital, sit, and visit with the men and women there. Stop off at a nursing home and visit there. Donate to a vetrans charity. Do some good for those who fought for you, and really do have no one to call family or friend. Still do all the nice things you wanted to do for my grandfather, please do. Use that positive energy and make someone super happy. They'll appreciate it more than you'll ever know.

edit again: For those of you still thinking of sending cards, please use the following address: William J Lashua c/o American Legion 132 Williams Road Ashburnham, MA 01430 Thank you.

$100 REWARD. To the first person that can obtain a KWA HK MP7 Airsoft rifle by 3:00 pm September 3rd in the Phoenix area.

I have a friend that lives in Cottonwood. His sons birthday is tomorrow and he is supposed to compete in an Airsoft tournament on Saturday. He called me tonight and asked if I knew where he could find one. They go for about $255. So the winner will be awarded $355. I believe the power of Reddit can make this happen. So there is no confusion this is the Airsoft rifle he is looking for. http://www.airsplat.com/Items/GR-KSC-MP7-PDW.htm

[edit] I have no affiliation with airsplat, it was just the first site that came up on a Google search.

[edit] Why the downvotes already? Please give this a chance, it will make some people very happy.

My friend from high school is on Death Row. Here is a letter I received from him today.

We haven't been in contact for 5 years. I left town before he went to jail for shooting a police officer. I tried to visit him a few months ago, but the prison denied my request, saying that they had changed their policy. Only his immediate family is allowed to see him now.

This letter is the first contact I've had with him since we used to hang out downtown with our friends and drink coffee, smoke hand-rolled cigarettes, and talk about philosophy and politics.

He is asking for support at a protest against human rights violations this Saturday. If anyone else cares to join, it is outside the Sussex I State Prison in Waverly, VA.

Here is the letter (edited & pics removed, sorry folks).

Dear <me>,

As you probably already assumed, I'm not doing very well. In another letter I will tell you about the ridiculous circumstances that put me here. This letter is about a few things that makes this death camp one of the most vile places on Earth.

Where Death Row prisoners are being housed used to be the Hole. The prisoners who previously occupied these cells threw feces, urine and vomit into the air-vents. These airducts have yet to be cleaned.

To save money on heating and cooling, the air in this building is overly recirculated. This means, of course, more carbon dioxide and less oxygen.

Worst of all, they will turn the air flow down so much that we often cannot feel any air coming out of our vents for months at a time.

Because of all this, we are suffering Hypoxic Hypoxia. All of us prisoners are lethargic and couldn't exercise even if we had the space to do so. We all have short term memory loss and trouble concentrating. It is probable that we are all suffering at least mild brain damage.

Disease is running rampant here. It takes a lot of effort for prisoners to protect themselves even though it is one of the easiest things for the prison to control. Rather, it should be easily controlled but these places are ran but people devoid of empathy and compassion.

This place is never properly cleaned. There is thick black grime lining the bottom edge of every wall.

On several occasions, raw sewerage has overflowed from drainage pipes and flooded into our cells. Every time this happened, the guards took several hours to bring us only spray cleaner and paper towels to clean up the mess.

We have to share the same nail clipper. The same filthy nail clipper has to be passed from one person to the next, even to prisoners that have Hep-C and AIDS.

The toilets in our cells can only be flushed once every five minutes. If you even accidentally touch the flush button more than once in a five minute time period then the toilet will shut off for one hour.

Our drinking water is a fairly thick yellow-brown color. I have no fucking idea what's in it but I'm sure it cannot be good.

For breakfast today we were served grits, pancakes, potatoes and maple flavored corn syrup. We will go for days without getting a single piece of fruit. We never get enough protein.

Malnourishment and oxygen deprivation is causing our bodies to grow old very rapidly. Prisoners not even thirty years old are going gray and losing hair. We have bone joint and muscle problems. We have lines in our faces that young people should not have. My body is so broken down, especially my mind.

You would think that the medical treatment here was something out of a horror film.

The dentists here have performed oral surgeries without using anesthetics. A dentist accidentally stitched one prisoner's cheek to his gum and ripped out half of another prisoner's tooth.

The doctors here seem to have an adversity to treating people's illnesses but love dishing out painkillers and sleeping pills.

I don't think you know this about me, and I'm sorry that I have to explain it to you, but I have severe Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Without proper treatment I get lesions and regular diarrhea. The diarrhea removes my probiotic flora which leaves the lesions susceptible to infection. The doctor refuses to let me take over-the-counter Acidophilus supplements.

At the first jail, I beat up a man who tried to assault me. The police did not like that very much because the man I beat up was one of their snitches, so they chained me up and threw me face first into the cement floor. This dislocated my jaw and now I can only chew with one side of my mouth and my jaw now grinds against my skull which causes me to have a constant headache. The doctor here tried to put me on pain killers but I refused.

For recreation we get to go into separate cages for about an hour, five times a week. I have not been able to run for several years.

Everywhere else in the world allows prisoners to have conjugal visits except here. So it is alright for guards to sexually harass prisoners but not for prisoners to have sex with their wives.

Then they took away contact visits where we could sit with and hug our family and friends. Instead we were locked into booths with our visitors sitting on the other side of a Plexiglas window.

But that was clearly not enough dehumanization because now we can only see our visitors through a television screen.

For passover, the prison refused to serve me kosher food so far that whole week I ate nothing. I'm not exactly religious but my father was a Holocaust survivor so some Hebrew rituals are important for me.

The prison chaplain mocked passover and later told one of the guards that Jews are a bunch of Christ-killers. I should probably explain to the chaplain that I am only half Jewish so I'm really only half a Christ-killer. I really only threatened Jesus and smacked him around a little.

There are countless publications that we are not allowed to read. Many of these books and magazines are about political and social reform. Many religious books are banned. We can't have almost anything with erotic content.

We can't receive nude photos through the mail. I have not had sex for five fucking years (it's punny) and I can't see a photo of a girlfriend.

All jails and prisons in the U.S. conduct in activity that the world court condemns as torture.

Guards will shock people with electricity, strap naked prisoners to a chair and hose them down with ice cold water, spray C-S gas and pepper spray into the faces of chained prisoners, deprive people of sleep, and deny medicine that treats painful illnesses.

According to the U.S. Constitution we are slaves and have no civil rights. That's why our torture is legal.

Me and several prisoners are asking our friends and anyone who cares to rally outside this death camp on Sept. 4, at 3:00pm, to protest the human rights violations that are conducted here.

I know it is very short notice but I really need your help.

Your friend, <name removed to protect privacy>
